Speech-Language Assistant (SLA)

Join Flourish, a growing practice providing high-quality, in-person speech-language services to schools and early childhood programs in small communities across the Interior of BC.

At Flourish, you’ll be supported every step of the way. We provide coaching, mentorship, and access to high-quality resources to help you feel confident in your role. You’ll gain experience in collaborative, community-based practice while working closely with a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

We believe in creating strong partnerships with families, educators, and communities so services are responsive, respectful, and effective.

As a Speech-Language Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a registered SLP to help children build their speech, language, and literacy skills. Your work will include:

• Implementing therapy plans in schools with students (1:1 or small groups)
• Preparing and organizing materials and resources (digital and print)
• Collaborating with the SLP to ensure therapy goals are appropriate and well-targeted
• Bringing creativity and enthusiasm to sessions to keep students engaged
• Tracking and documenting student progress through accurate data collection
• Staying within the scope of practice of an SLA and knowing when to defer to the SLP
• Participating in professional learning opportunities to grow your skills
